Vintage, Eclectic Evansville Wedding

Kristina & Andrew’s Vintage Eclectic Wedding at the Old Courthouse in Evansville

Over the past year, we here at ENGAGED! RV have seen so many beautiful, personality filled weddings in our area! So many, in fact, that we have decided to begin featuring bonus REAL WEDDINGS on our blog for you to see, share and be inspired by.

For our first REAL WEDDING feature, we are excited to show you this vintage/hipster styled wedding at the iconic Old Courthouse of Vanderburgh County – a historical favorite of ours here at ENGAGED!

Globes, lightbulbs, old bottles and a fun donut tiered “cake” all came together to create an eclectic, vintage style vibe.

In the words of bride, Kristina:

“Andrew and I met through mutual friends at a training event 3 years ago for a friend doing the Spartan Death Race. Andrew lived in Evansville and I lived in Southern Illinois, so every weekend for 9 months we traveled back and forth to see each other.”

“During that time we loved to travel, sometimes for races and other times just to explore some of our favorite things (breweries, wineries, coffee shops, etc).. we tried to incorporate a little bit of this into the wedding with stops at our one of our favorites, Evansville’s westside Gerst Haus.

Our love for coffee was shown with the accents of coffee beans at the wedding and Lucid providing coffee at our reception. Andrew picked some of his favorite craft beers (and my favorite wines) for the reception. His best friend also brewed a coffee infused beer for our rehearsal dinner called “midnight mud run” (referencing how we met).

We referenced our travel adventures by displaying globes as a part of our decor. I wanted to keep our color scheme neutral to not distract form the beautiful architecture of the Old Courthouse. We did not want anything to clash with it – it is amazing! We had it on our list of options for venues but were totally sold when we went and looked.. it was the first and only place we looked at. The building went with our theme/vibe of romantic but classy. Andrew likes to say my style is “grandma chic” so the marble, lace, old books, went well with that!

Instead of a traditional wedding dinner, we had breakfast instead! Andrew bottled our maple syrup favors by hand for guests to use with our breakfast food along with offering a coffee cocktail hour and mimosas, and our “donut cake” made from blueberry cake and glazed donuts from Donut Bank.

I love the fact that every time I drive across town on the Lloyd Expressway I get to view the beautiful Old Courthouse and think of our wedding there. ”
